Forbus Hand Made Guitars

Each Forbus guitar has its own individual vibe. There is something organic and immediate about the connection the player feels. Each and every guitar is one of a kind, is completely hand-made, and is crafted with the instruments expressive capabilities foremost in the makers mind.
About John Forbus
John Forbus began his path toward expert luthier after purchasing a new guitar. He bought a 59 Les Paul Reissue and said quite simply "I could make one of these." Forbus says he set out to build guitars that had the raw expressive tone of a Ray Charles performance. The soul stirring authentic tone of someone who had lived the hard story, not just read about it somewhere. This is what compels John to strive for something far above and beyond a production model guitar.
John has been working on his guitar art form for 15 years. Forbus Guitars are made in the USA, about 70 miles outside of Nashville, in Belfast, Tennessee.
Forbus Guitar Design Philosophy
When speaking about his creations John Forbus says "Everything is a creative whim". John's devotion to guitar making keeps him constantly working on incorporating new variations on his designs. Because everything is hand-made by Forbus himself, just about every detail can be tailored to your own whims as well.
When asked about what he strives for in his instruments Forbus says, "Ergonomics are very important to me. You shouldn't have to fight to get the expression you want out of the guitar." "They are intended to be expressive individually. Each guitar should evoke a different emotion."
Forbus is adamant about his concern that guitar players find the right instrument for them. And he is confident about the uniqueness of his instruments. "If you play the same thing on one of my guitars and it sounds the same as when you play it on the guitar you have at home, don't buy it. Go home and play yours." But, if you are looking for something that has clear warmth and originality you should try a Forbus Guitar.
Original Craftsmanship
These guitars are in every true sense hand made guitars. John Forbus speaks about his work with a gentle humility as he expresses his convictions on how special each guitar must be. They are hand made by one man firmly anchored to his fascination with guitars and the music they make. Forbus is constantly rethinking and recreating new works of devotion in each new guitar. There are no two Forbus Guitars alike.
Regardless of his talent for building original instruments, John Forbus is a true down to earth fellow who is willing to go the extra mile, and then some, to make his skill and knowledge personally available to his customers. I have sat down and talked with John Forbus several times and it is clear that if you have any concerns John Forbus is guaranteed to be there for you for a very long time. He stands behind his work with total conviction.
