Malinda Stenberg has played violin/fiddle for twenty-nine years. She studied Music Ed at U.T. Knoxville and Violin Performance at MTSU. She transferred to Martin Methodist College with a full scholarship as a member of Richland Creek bluegrass band, and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in English.

Malinda has twenty-eight years of performing experience and twenty years of recording experience. She currently plays with an acoustic Americana group called Good Medicine that plays consistently in the Middle Tennessee area. She is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, and co-creative director for the group.

Malinda was trained both classically and as a fiddle player by Kenny Sears. This extensive private training included music theory, the Nasvhille number system, and improvisation. She is also a second-generation private music instructor and has taught full time for sixteen years. She applies techniques that she learned from her mother, a well-respected Suzuki piano instructor of 35 years, to teach theory to young learners and to teach group master classes to enrich private lessons.

Malinda has a passion for tailoring her lessons to the individual student and enjoys teaching many different styles based on the player’s developing interests. Her first teaching goal with a new student is always to have them playing a song as soon as possible.
